The iconic manufacturer Howard is celebrating its centenary of production this year.

The company’s founder, Arthur Clifford (‘Cliff’) Howard, was a formidable presence in agriculture, here and overseas. He invented the rotary hoe and his patented Rotavator concept formed the basis of multiple, remarkably successful agricultural and garden machines.

After establishing a manufacturing base and distribution network in Australia, Cliff relocated to England, assisting in the war effort from 1939-45 and thereafter expanding his sales territories to all corners of the globe.

As Howard Rotavator Co. Ltd, the entity received the Queen’s award to industry in 1966. Cliff Howard himself was appointed C.B.E. in 1970.

Howard Australia today is flourishing, supplying superbly made slashers, rotary hoes and mowers.

Upcoming events:
• Lake Goldsmith Steam & Vintage Rally, Lake Goldsmith, VIC (May 6 – 7, 2023)
• Clarendon Classic, Clarendon, NSW (September 16 – 17, 2023)
