Aaron Witt and his son, Danny, own and operate Supercut Lawn & Garden Service in Adelaide. It is a busy enterprise as they are contracted by multiple government departments to perform slashing, mulching and grounds maintenance.
“The area we cover stretches from the Barossa, through metro Adelaide and down to Aldinga,” says Aaron. “We also look after a number of solar farms for Enerven, which is a subsidiary of SA Power.
“We are their primary grounds contractor, as we are for SA Water, so we look after water treatment plants and broadacre slashing. We do a lot of work for different departments and that’s why we had to step up into some bigger machines; it was more cost effective.”
The guys had a smaller Kioti previously and ran a five-foot mowing deck on the back of it, but contracting for broadacre slashing required a bigger machine. Enter the Kioti NX6020.
The NX6020 is powered by a Daedong liquid cooled, 4 cylinder diesel engine which generates 60 hp at 2600 rpm. Standard equipment includes HST drive, cruise control, wet disc brakes, PTO, rear remotes and a category II 3-point hitch with a lift capacity of 1605kg.
“We now run a six-foot Howard Nugget slasher on the back of the Kioti,” says Aaron. “We’ve been going through the thickest, greenest growth and the Kioti doesn’t even drop the revs. It’s really amazing, really robust and easy to spend long hours in.
“Although our work is mostly slashing, we also do some mulching and spreading with the 4-in-1 bucket. Some other brands make you pay extra for the bucket but with the Kioti it’s part of the package – at a better price.”
Importantly for the Witts’ line of work, the NX6020 cab tractor boasts superb visibility and a perfectly sealed cabin to reduce external noise and offer protection from the elements.
“There is another brand of tractor in our fleet and compared to the Kioti, it’s chalk and cheese,” says Aaron. “The other one is loud and lets a lot of hot air into the cabin, whereas the Kioti is totally sealed. It makes work so much more comfortable.”
Their Kioti was purchased through Tony Raschella and the helpful team at Cavan Ag in Pooraka. It came at a time when Aaron and Danny really needed a new tractor and they remain mightily impressed with the service they received.
