PFG Australia, one of the nation’s leading agricultural machinery distributors, is proudly to mark 25 years of operation, celebrating a quarter-century of growth, innovation, and enduring partnerships with Australian farmers, dealers, and communities.
Since its establishment in 2000, PFG Australia has evolved from a small, family-run team into a national network employing more than 100 Australians across two major hubs in Melbourne and Brisbane and supporting hundreds more through its 300-strong dealer network.
Every tractor, mower, and baler supplied through PFG contributes to an industry built on the land- supporting families, regional communities, and the farmers who feed and fuel Australia.
A Legacy Rooted in Family and Land
The story of PFG began more than 75 years ago in Morrinsville, New Zealand, when Laurie Maber founded what would become the Power Farming Group. From humble beginnings as a single rural machinery outlet, Laurie built a business grounded in trust, service, and a deep respect for those who work the land.
That same spirit carried across the Tasman when the Maber family established PFG Australia in 2000. Starting from modest premises in Melbourne, Craig Maber led the early expansion- knocking on doors, signing new dealers, and personally loading trucks.
“In Australia we were literally starting from scratch- small premises bursting at the seams,” recalls Craig. “We were knocking on doors, setting up dealers … it was really exciting.”
From those beginnings, PFG Australia has grown into a trusted name representing 15 global brands- from the precision of Deutz-Fahr to the toughness of Kioti and the heritage of Howard, an Australian icon with nearly a century of history in local manufacturing.
Built on Partnership and Progress
Across two and a half decades, PFG has continued to invest in Australia- employing locals, training technicians, and backing its dealer network to deliver world-class machinery and service. Its success is powered by long-term relationships: with global suppliers who value integrity, with dealers who share the same passion for rural business, and with customers who rely on dependable machinery to get the job done.
The company’s Australian presence now spans tractors, implements, hay and silage, viticulture, and mowing- supplying solutions that meet the unique challenges of Australian farming.
Looking Ahead: A Strong Past and a Bright Future
As PFG Australia celebrates 25 years, its focus remains firmly on the future- embracing technology, sustainability, and continued local investment.
Brett Maber, Executive Director of Power Farming Group, said: “PFG’s strength has always come from its people- from the Maber family’s founding vision to the Australians who build, sell, and service our machines every day. Twenty-five years in, that same family spirit drives us forward. We’re proud of our past, confident in our future, and committed to the generations of farmers who will carry this industry ahead.”
