Deutz Fahr – About Us
A LEGACY OF INNOVATION & SUCCESS
Every champion has a story, and Deutz-Fahr’s began over a century ago. From the beginning, the company showed bold vision and determination. In 1927, it became one of the first manufacturers in the world to mass-produce diesel-engine tractors, driven by a belief that agricultural mechanisation could transform farming and improve lives.
Innovation became the company’s hallmark. In 1936, the Deutz 11 series revolutionized farming. Milestones followed: the air-cooled diesel engine (1948), hydraulic hitch lifting (1958), the Intrac system (1972), and the “open view” cab design (1990). The 1995 launch of the Agrotron range redefined tractor comfort and performance, followed by the first suspended front axle in 1996. In 2001, the Agrotron TTV introduced the first continuously variable transmission in a Deutz-Fahr tractor.
Deutz-Fahr’s innovation extends beyond tractors. In 1955, it launched its first self-propelled combine harvester. The Topliner series arrived in 1991, followed by the Powerpress 120 H in 1993, the world’s first self-propelled high-density baling press. In 1998, the Topliner 8XL became the largest straw-walker combine harvester in the world.
Today, in 2025, Deutz-Fahr stands at the forefront of smart farming technology, integrating precision systems, connectivity, and sustainable power solutions into every machine. More than a century later, the vision remains the same: empowering farmers with the tools to succeed, now and into the future.
In Australia, Deutz-Fahr Tractors are supported by PFG Australia Pty Ltd.
